Flag Askew  Elsie Straights doesn't think she's lucky to have parents who support her desire to become a woman in Australian agriculture - she thinks that that's just common sense.  But there are plenty of daughters off of farms and stations whose parents don't have the same believe.  So Elsie's going to teach those girls - and whoever else is interested - How To Bush via a social media channel.

Steps between the Aether - Sabella dies of childbed, leaving her sons orphaned; her newborn is safe and hidden away with her sister, but her firstborn is still in the possession of his abusive father.  Sabella can't die until she knows both boys are safe.  There's an old tale of deathbed wishes and fae that might help her save them both.

Fell & Fey - Griff Tawnee escapes slavers, and decides that all he's ever really wanted to do is run a bar.  With the permission of Queen Elnaaz, he sets up Fell&Fey with the help of his fellow escaped would-be slaves on Rohi Island.  No shirt, no shoes, no sh!t, then no service!

Fae le Friz, a blonde woman in her mid-twenties with a blue streak in her hair and dressed in maroon shirts and pants with a grey coat, giving a tarot reading at the Lost Poet Cafe in Winton, with a tarot spread in front of her and a Christmas tree made out of books behind her. The Poet's walls are covered in the pages of an old encyclopedia

My Story

From the moment I figured out how to talk, I've never not been telling someone a story.  One of the things I loved most over the nine years I worked for the Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum was, as a tour guide and, later, the Education Co-Ordinator, I was literally paid to talk (score!) and to tell the story of Winton's prehistory to visitors, since the fossils no longer could.

After practicing my craft on fanfiction for over a decade, and after the success of my first work, "The Wonderful World of Australian Fossils", I decided to really knuckle down and develop "A Spot of Bother".  The career change to rural/remote postie allows more time for writing, spending time with my dogs, and growing my skills with the tarot!

In-Person Tarot Reading

Throughout the year, you can find me at the Lost Poet Coffee and Bookshop here in Winton most Saturdays.

From March/April to October/November, I can be found at the St Patrick's Parish Saturday Markets on the main street of Winton with tarot readings and my physical copies of my books.  The markets are usually every second and fourth Saturday of the above months, but sometimes we like to spice it up a bit! 😂 Check in with the Winton Visitor Information Centre for dates.

Please drop in and say hello if you're in town!
